MarkBook will create multiple sets of comments for each student and subject. Up to ten sets of comments can be created for each Mark Set plus ten sets for a
Combined Report (Combined Mark Sets). This means that a teacher could create a
unique comment once each month, merge it onto a report, and then save it for
comparison/review purposes later. This is particularly useful for building the
next comment - review prior comments when assessing progress and maintaining consistency
with prior anecdotal reports.
To open a compare set of comments from the Comment Screen, click on File and select Open a Compare Comment Set. The dialogue box below will appear.
If the second set doesn't yet exist, type a name for a new set. In this
sample image, there are two sets already, April Report and the current June
Report. Click the one you wish to compare with and then click Open. In this case, the user should click on
April Report. When Open is clicked, the next image will appear. You can also open a compare set by clicking the View menu at the top of the screen (see next image) and selecting Compare Comment Sets. In either case, two comment sets will appear similar to the next image.
Note that there are two comment windows
open for the same student. Either can be edited but if
Set 1: April Report has been used on any report card, it would be unwise to modify
these April comments now. Instead, use it exclusively as an historical reference for this student as the next report paragraph,
COMMENT SET 2: June Report, is assembled. This comparison will help avoid mistakes
and determine if stated objectives from the last report have been met.
