MarkBook® section 9-5
Student Subject Report Card and the Multi-Subject Report Card

MarkBook produces several types of individual student reports. For paper reports, print these for one student at a time, for an alpha block of students, for students "At Risk", for selected students, or for the entire class. For electronic or voice broadcasts send information as a file to other services such as TeacherWeb and SchoolConnects. Or send private reports by Email.

To produce student reports, either singly or in batches, click on the Student Report button in your main operating screen, section 3-1. Select the Print/Communicate tab near the top right to get to this screen. There are further selection screens here - get to each by selecting (clicking) the tabs. Brief experimentation will demonstrate the kinds of Student Reports that MarkBook prints using these options. In all cases, MarkBook will report the number of pages required near the upper right. Use FinePrint to preview.

1. Type and Range Tab

There are numerous options on the Type and Range tab: 2. General Options Tab

The General Options tab gives numerous options for printing. Click inside any cell to select it. We recommend that Attendance, the Trends Graph, a Confirmation Request and Comments be included. MarkBook remembers the last settings used for the next time you elect to print student reports.

Note the option to include a blank Comments box (empty frame) for hand-written comments. Use none to exclude both comments and the blank comment box. For details on creating comments, see section 10-1.

For a Modal report, select the Mode cell at the lower left and the Modal Analysis Graph cell in the center. Unclick the Mark (%) cell and MarkBook will print a mode-only report card without a weighted average grade. We recommend printing the Parent/Guardian Signature Form option including the count of Zeros!

The Setup button at the lower left will select options consistent with other choices made in that same box.

3. Optional Columns Tab

Select among these screen options. Choose whether or not to include the Comparisons to the Class Average. If comparison to average is not acceptable, click it off. The Actual Mark button displays data as entered. If not selected, all data will print as percentages.

Once finished with the three tabs above, click on the Print Detailed Report or Print Summary Report button. In the event that more than one report has been selected, MarkBook will warn about the number of pages required at the upper right.

4. Email Tab

Email setup tab

To send Email reports, MarkBook users must enter their return Email address and their SMTP host name under Setup. Once done, use this screen to select options at the left and then click Send Email Reports. Send to all parents for whom you have a valid address with one click and then to all students with a second click. Copy yourself with the CC (carbon copy) button or the BCC (blind carbon copy) button. The latter doesn't show the recipient that you got a copy of the report. There are two Email report formats. The HTML report sends a detailed chart with all data. The Text report sends a plain text summary of achievement and attendance to date as specified on the first two tabs. No typing is required on your part. Enter a password on this screen if required.

Tip: To see what these reports look like, enter your own Email address in the Email address fields for one student. Send the two kinds of reports to yourself.

5. TeacherWeb Tab

MarkBook will suggest an appropriate name and location for the file. Once saved, you'll get the following instructions:

Select the subject name from the drop-down menu and to select an overall mark or a specific assessment entry. Click the Create SchoolConnects File button to make the file. Forward to your SchoolConnects secretary for broadcast.
